bdc_community_grants_june_2010-photos.jpgA NEW ROUND of funding is available for community groups in Blaby District wanting to expand or develop their activities. If your group is based in Blaby district, and benefits people in the district, you may be eligible to apply for a community grant.

Community Action Blaby District administers the grants programme on behalf of the council and two schemes are now available, with funding of up to £500 available for project running costs, and up to £5,000 for capital expenses (such as building work or equipment purchase).

Last quarter, 19 groups shared over £15,000 to fund a variety of projects including a choral project, temporary skate park, day out for carers, and new children’s play equipment in a park. Priority is given to schemes that develop new activities within the community, and groups that have not received a grant within the last three years.

Applications for grants are accepted quarterly and the next deadline is 27 August 2010. For more information, or to request an application packet, please contact the Community Support Organiser at Community Action on 0116 272 7669 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it You can also visit The Pavilion in Huncote for a grants drop-in on the 3rd Wednesday of the month between 7:00 and 8:30pm. No appointment necessary.
