geoffreyredfurn.jpgGEOFFREY REDFERN, one of the first Trustees of the Glenfield Millennium Green, celebrated his 90th birthday recently. After the Trust meeting in June he was presented with a book of aerial photographs taken over Leicestershire by a local flying association. A cake was cut and a toast proposed 'for the next 10 years'.

A retired bank manager, who was involved with the Sherlock Holmes Society which met in Glenfield, Geoffrey was involved in local politics for a very lengthy period and was Chairman of the Blaby District Council.

On a non-political level he served on Glenfield Parish Council and was a Governor of the Hall School from 1991-2003. During World War II he served in the Royal Air Force and this led to him founding one of the most successful ATC Squadrons which thrives today see story on page 11 for current news.

A Life Member of the RAF Association he is a member of the Retired Officers Association and a past Treasurer of the Leicester Probus Club.
